Lake Atitlán is a volcanic crater-made lake in Guatemala’s southwestern highlands. It is noted for its Mayan villages and its surrounded by high verdant hills. The horizon is embellished by three volcanoes: Atitlán, Tolimán, and San Pedro.
It is in Lake Atitlán’s crystal-clear waters that we can see people from these rural communities on small fishing boats decorating shores. As a time-machine, I used the boat that took me from town to town and I pictured the life of a boy who starts fishing at his village dock and grows to become an expert fisherman who owns a boat.
